Next Nottingham forest manager?

It has been a crazy 24 hours for Nottingham Forest. At 00:31 GMT, the club officially announced that they have sacked Sean Dyche. This comes immediately after a frustrating 0-0 draw at home against bottom-placed Wolves—a match where Forest recorded a staggering 35 shots without scoring, the most by any Premier League team in a single game since 2016. The result left the team sitting in 17th place, just three points above the relegation zone with 12 games remaining.

This is massive news because Forest is now poised to make Premier League history as the first club to have four permanent managers in a single campaign. Dyche is the third manager to lose his job at the City Ground this season, following Nuno Espírito Santo in September and Ange Postecoglou, who lasted only 39 days. The owner, Evangelos Marinakis, is reportedly “furious” with the lack of efficiency and wants immediate changes to secure top-flight survival.

Now, everyone is asking the same question: Who comes next?

The Top Contenders

The bookies have already released their odds, and there are some very famous names on the list.

  1. Vítor Pereira (The Leading Candidate) Pereira is currently identified as a leading contender to take the reins. He was recently dismissed by Wolves, but his familiarity with the current Premier League relegation battle makes him a top choice for a quick appointment.

  2. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (The Bookie’s Choice) The former Manchester United boss is a high-profile favorite according to the bookies. Solskjaer recently left Besiktas and fits the “big name” mold that owner Marinakis has historically preferred when looking for an instant bounce.

  3. Roberto De Zerbi De Zerbi is another high-caliber name being linked following his recent exit from Marseille. Known for his tactical genius, he is in high demand, though he is also being closely watched by Tottenham as a replacement for the recently sacked Thomas Frank.

  4. A Shock Return for Steve Cooper? While some fans are dreaming of a return for the man who originally brought Forest back to the Premier League, analysts suggest it remains a long shot given his increasing attractiveness to other top-flight rivals.

What Needs to Happen?

Whoever takes the job inherits a squad that has been coached by three different philosophies in less than six months. They will have to stabilize a defense that has become prone to errors and find a way to get strikers like Lorenzo Lucca and Taiwo Awoniyi scoring again immediately. With a massive Europa League play-off against Fenerbahce looming on February 19, there is absolutely no time to waste.
