David Miller Cleared for T20 World Cup.

We have received the best news of the week for South African cricket lovers. David Miller has been medically cleared to play!

There was a lot of concern recently after Miller picked up an adductor muscle strain. This happened while he was playing for the Paarl Royals during the SA20 competition, forcing him to miss the playoffs and the recent series against the West Indies. Many fans were worried that our middle-order star—the most experienced player in the side with 133 T20Is—might miss the upcoming tournament.

However, Cricket South Africa confirmed yesterday, January 31, that “Killer Miller” has officially passed his fitness test. This is a massive boost for the national side as they look to go one step further than their runners-up finish in 2024.

Miller is set to join the rest of the squad as they fly out from Johannesburg to Mumbai today, February 1, to prepare for the T20 World Cup. He joins a revised 15-man roster that now includes Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs, who were recently added as replacements for the injured Tony de Zorzi and Donovan Ferreira.

The Proteas’ experience and power hitting are going to be vital in the sub-continent conditions of India and Sri Lanka. Before their official campaign begins, the team will face co-host India in a crucial warm-up match this Wednesday, February 4. South Africa will then open their tournament against Canada in Ahmedabad on February 9.

We wish David and the rest of the Proteas all the best as they travel today.
