The Premier League title race has just become very serious. If you thought Arsenal was going to run away with it, think again. Manchester City is breathing down their necks, and the pressure is on!

Here is the latest update on the battle for the trophy.

Man City Close the Gap

On Wednesday, February 11, Manchester City sent a huge warning message to the Gunners. Pep Guardiola’s team cruised to a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland was back to his clinical best, netting his 22nd goal of the season from the edge of the box before being substituted early as a precaution. January signing Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring early in the contest, while academy graduate Nico O’Reilly added the second just six minutes later.

This win means City are now only 3 points behind Arsenal on the log. They have won two massive games in a row—following their “statement” 2-1 comeback win against Liverpool at Anfield on the weekend—and they look ready to fight until the very last day.

All Eyes on Arsenal Tonight

Now, it is Arsenal’s turn to answer. Mikel Arteta’s squad travels to the Gtech Community Stadium tonight (Thursday) to take on 7th-placed Brentford.

The situation is simple:

  • If Arsenal wins: They reach 56 points, going 6 points clear of City and 9 clear of Aston Villa.

  • If Arsenal loses or draws: Man City will remain just one result away from parity, with a trip to the Etihad still on the Gunners’ schedule.

Arsenal has been the league’s defensive benchmark this season, conceding only 17 goals across 24 matches. However, they must also keep an eye on a surging Aston Villa, who moved into 3rd place with 47 points after a late 1-0 win over Brighton on Wednesday.

It is going to be a nervous night for the fans in North London!
